Seachtain na Gaeilge

We had great fun celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge at school.

Bhí muid gléasta suas in éadaí glasa ar Lá Glas. Bhí lá ar dóigh againn. We dressed up in green for our Lá Glas/Green Day and had a great day! Click here to see photos from Lá Glas on our Facebook page.

Our annual Singathon is one of the highlights of our school year and a most special occasion. We sing with pride for our school, for our heritage and for our country, a celebration of what being Irish means to us. It's a big event and takes a lot of organisation and co-operation. Thanks to the children for their wonderful enthusiasm, to the staff for all their help, to Mr. Kinsella for getting everything underway and to Louise Kelly for leading 800 voices in song. Thanks also to Patrick our Caretaker, and to two very brave ladies, who with a little help from the lads at Boyle Construction , had a birds eye view for recording proceedings! And of course a big thank you to our fantastic pupils. Go raibh míle agibh! Na páistí is fearr in Éirinn gan dabht ar bith! Click here to see photos from the Singathon on our Facebook page.

During our annual ceolchoirm at Scoil Íosagáin we love to hear the tap of the dance shoes, the beating of the drum, the sound of singing and the clapping and stomping of feet echoing around the school. Bhí na ceoltóirí, na damhseoirí agus na hamhránaithe ar fheabhas ar fad. The musicians, dancers and singers were fantastic! Bhain an lucht èisteachta an-sult as an ceol is an craic. The audience really enjoyed themselves.

So many of our children are involved in Irish cultural activities which is great to see. Thanks to all who took part, all the staff who helped prepare the children, and a special word of thanks to Mrs Magee who organised it all, together with Jim and Keenan.

Check out Resilient Rhythms on Facebook and you'll hear us singing more songs!
